Winter Inspiration from WellWed & Another Auction Find

Awhile back I happened upon WellWed Magazine's website and now I check it regularly for inspiration. I really, really loved one inspiration shoot from their Fall/Winter 2011 issue (Hamptons edition), so I purchased that issue. Here are a few pics:

Fabulous, right? Even though everything is white or neutral, these pictures still exude warmth and coziness. This would be a GREAT look for a winter wedding. Nostalgia Rentals has all of the ingredients you would need to recreate this look for your wedding or special event... Crocheted snowflakes? Check. Umbrella frame? Check. Doilies? Check. Mason and apothecary jars? Check. Lamp shade frame? Check. I even have a mink hat that I would be happy to gussy up with a fabric flower and veil for you.

That last picture gave me a great idea for using one of my latest auction finds. A week ago, I got a great deal on 20 of these vintage feed sacks:

I am planning on making chair covers like the ones in the picture with the sacks. I think I should probably be able to sew about 50 or 60 out of the amount of fabric I have. We'll see. I hope to get at least a few done in the next month so I can give them a trial run at the China Luncheon in Hubbell on March 24 (buy some tickets and come sit at my table!). Which means I should probably be starting on these soon since I am not a speedy seamstress.

If you're ready to start planning your winter 2012 wedding, give me a call!

Ready for Their Close Up, Mr. DeMille

I picked these beauties up at an auction a couple of weeks ago. They are just back from the cleaner's. I dressed them up a little with some brooches from my vintage jewelry collection. (If you're interested in a brooch bouquet, I have many brooches like these in my stash -- in pretty much whatever color you would like.)

They are available for rent. In a couple of weeks, they will be displaying vintage wedding dresses at a bridal shower (which I think is a great idea). In the meantime, they will be dressing up my workroom.

Check out the green shutters behind them -- also a new find.

Shutters are great for all sorts of purposes...

Food for thought. I better get started on my project of the day -- organizing new inventory!

Nebraska Wedding Day Launch Party

It feels a lot like spring today -- almost 60 degrees! I'm sure there is more winter waiting around the corner, but for right now at least the days of snow and ice seem far away. Spring temperatures reminded me, ironically, that I hadn't posted about the Nebraska Wedding Day 2012 launch party yet. The woodsy, winter theme was devised by Candace of Lovestru.ck Social Events. It was perfect for a January evening.

Nostalgia Rentals provided many of the decor items for the event. Check it out (all images Brighten Photography):
My favorite detail of the night was probably the floral arrangement by Beyond the Vine that hung over Nostalgia's fireplace -- on Nostalgia's antlers!

Mini pies from Bliss Bakery were stacked on top of Nostalgia crates -- this is a great idea for a buffet. Those cupcakes were so yummy!

Nothing from Nostalgia in this shot -- I just loved the welcome wreath and wanted to show it to you!

Most of the props for the photo booth -- sleds, thermoses, jackets, hats, scarfs, ice skates, etc. -- were from our inventory. So much fun!

Well, I want to get outside and enjoy some of this beautiful weather. Hope all of you are able to do the same!

Pin Up Girl

Pin up/boudoir photo shoots just showed up on my radar earlier this year. Personally, I don't like getting my picture taken even when I am fully clothed. However, for the brave brides-to-be among you, I think it's a fabulous, fun idea. What a great gift for your fiance!

When I received a couple of requests for props for pin up shoots in the past, I took a look online for ideas. I like the vintage styled shoots the best (of course). Here are a few:

If you have decided to strike a pose and are looking for props, give me a call. I would be happy to work with you and your photographer to create a unique vintage look for your session. Below are photos of a few items in my inventory that would work well for a pin up shoot -- but I have lots more, even including some vintage clothing.
